YORK, Sergeant Alvin (1887-1964). Sharpshooter who shot accurately at ranges 200, 300 and 500 yards. He struggled with the moral issue of killing humans. In the fall of 1918 he killed 25 Germans and knocked out 35 machine guns and captured 132 enemies making them prisoners almost single handed. He is the recipient of the Medal of Honor.
