American Icon For Whom Wrigley Field Is Named
WRIGLEY, Jr. William (1861-1932). American businessman, who began his own business in 1891 manufacturing and selling soap and baking powder. He eventually abandoned the soap business and concentrated on selling chewing gum. During 1899 he announced a new flavor "Spearmint" which was an immediate success and brought in a million dollars worth of sales in 1908. In 1920, he bought the Chicago Cubs. In 1926, he renamed Cubs Park to Wrigley Field. A very RARE full ink signature “William Wrigley” on a slip with ample margins for matting and framing. Signatures of Wrigley are very scarce but full signatures can be considered RARE.................SOLD
