WILKINS, Maurice Hugh Frederick (1916-2004) British biophysicist, Co-discoverer of the structure of DNA (1953). Awarded the 1962 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine. This collection consists of three signed items including the elusive signature of Maurice Wilkins. A partial page from Watson’s book “The Annotated and Illustrated Double Helix. He signs his name dating it 2019. In addition, he has hand drawn an ink sketch of a “Double Helix,” DNA strand with a notation “A.T.G.C.” On a 4’x6’ card Francis Crick has signed his name adding “For Louis.” Biographical notes in pencil top of card easily trimmed if so desired. On a First Day Cover commemorating The Doctors. Affixed is a U.S. 3 cent Doctors postage stamp, cancelled First Day of Issue, M.H.F. Wilkins has signed his name. A very uncommon signature. Together with an illustration from a book of the three doctors standing with the other recipients of the 1962 Nobel Prizes.
