WATSON, James D. (1928- ) American molecular biologist, geneticist and zoologist. Co-discovered the structure of DNA in 1953. Awarded the Nobel Prize in 1962. He was eventually shunned by the scientific community and in need of money. His Nobel Prize Gold Medal was the first to be sold by a living recipient. It fetched 4.1 million dollars at auction.
