WALLENDA, Karl (1905-1978). German born circus performer. Formed his own group in 1922. Created the first high wire pyramid act which became known as the “Flying Wallendas”. Joined Ringling Brothers in 1928 as a dare devil act. Karl Wallenda fell to his death in Puerto Rico in 1978 while walking a wire between two hotels. Frontispiece portrait, removed from his biography, of Karl Wallenda walking a high wire. Measures 5”x8”, B&W, boldly signed. The biography was written only two years before his death so to find this portrait signed would be quite difficult. Very few signed portraits of Karl Wallenda of any kind have appeared on the market............... $650.00
