Rare U.S. $1 Note Signed by Jailed Treasurer of the U.S.
VILLALPANDO, Catalina Vasquez (1940- ). 39th Treasurer of the United States (1989-1993) under George H.W. Bush. Her signature is on all U.S. paper money printed between 1988 and April 1994. On Sept. 13, 1994 she was sentenced to four months in prison for evading taxes and obstructing justice. After serving time, she was put on supervised release for three years, including four months of house detention. She must also do 200 hours of community service. She had faced a maximum of five years in prison and a $250,000 fine on each of the convictions. She did admit she did not file tax returns over 5 years, a period that overlaps her service as a special assistant to the president of the United States. Federal Reserve Note $1.00 signed in print Catalina Vasquez Villalpando as Treasurer of the United States. Above her printed signature she has hand signed her signature, in ink, in full. Quite scarce, matter of fact the first-hand signed bill of Vallalpando we have seen. In MINT condition. Together with an informative newspaper clipping regarding her sentencing and a two-page article from an autograph magazine discussing the Treasurer being jailed along with this exact bill being illustrated. ....................$175.00
