VAN ALLEN, James (1914-2016). American space scientist. Van Allen Radiation Belt named after him. He worked on the Manhattan project (1941) and worked with Von Braun and Russian scientists. During WWII he was stationed in the So. Pacific on the U.S.S. Washington and the ship successfully defended itself against a Kamikaze attack. Van Allen was the recipient of many prestigious awards. A choice black ink signature on a 3”x5” card. Card has some toning along the top edge. The original envelope is included.............$37.50 |
