UMBERTO II (1904-1983). The last King of Italy. Last reigning member of the Royal House of Savoy. Known as “The King of May” his reign lasted only 33 days. During the second world war he was promoted to the rank of Marshal of Italy. Under prince Umberto the Royal Italian Forces joined to assist the Allies continuing to the final defeat of the Nazis in 1945. On June 12, 1946 the Savoy Reign and Kingdom of Italy came to an end. Umberto went into exile in Portugal. Official card with embossed King’s crown and the Seal of the House of Hohenzollern. A printed message in Italian dated at Casoais, 15 September 1972.
