TITO, Josip Broz (1892-1980) Yugoslav revolutionary and statesman. First President of Yugoslavia (1953-1980), Prime Minister of Yugoslavia (1953-1963). Tito was a leader who is considered having the most effective movement in occupied Europe. He was a dictator who successfully worked with Nehru of India, Nassar of Egypt and Sukarno of Indonesia. He was a prisoner of war during WWI. During WWII his forces assisted escaping Jews and over 2,000 Jews fought directly for Tito. CHRISTMAN, Henry M. (Editor).
