Rare First Day of NON ISSSUE

TIBBETS, Paul (1915-2007) Pilot of the B-29, Enola Gay. Dropped the Atomic Bomb on Hiroshima, 6 August 1945.  First Day of Non Issue Atomic Bomb and WWII postage stamp, cancelled Columbus, OH  Aug.14, 1995, commemorating the Allied victory over Japan. Cachet of the Enola Gay. Signed by Paul Tibbets with a flawless signature.
After protests from Japanese government officials and intervention by President Clinton, the U.S. Postal Service reluctantly rescinded a planned stamp commemorating the swift conclusion of WWII through the use of atomic bombs. This is the only commemorative stamp ever rescinded by the U.S. Postal Service. The announcement was made public by The White House on December 7, 1994 exactly 53 years to the day after Japan’s attack on Pearl Harbor.  In mint condition.....................
