THYNG, Harrison R. (1918-1983) U.S. fighter pilot and General in the U.S. Air Force. He is one of only 6 USAF fighter pilots to be an Ace in two World Wars. He was one of the first fighter pilots to see combat in Europe. Eight kills in WWII and seven kills in Korea. First Day Cover commemorating Armed Forces Reserve (1955) Armed Forces Reserve postage stamp cancelled Washington, May 21, 1955. The general has inscribed and signed as follows: “Every Best Wish to Roger Harris B/Gen Harrison R. Thyng USAF Ret”. In very fine condition.
