THYBEN, Gerhard (1922-2006). German fighter pilot during WWII. He flew with the JG-54. High scoring Ace, credited with 157 victories. Awarded the Knight’s Cross of the Iron Cross with Oak Leaves.
ANDERSON, C.E. “Bud.” American fighter pilot with the USAF in WWII. Ace credited with 16.5 victories. A triple Ace, during the war he was the highest scoring Ace in his P-51 Mustang Squadron. Copy of an article from a newspaper, Sunday June 21, 1992. It illustrates a portrait of Thyben and Anderson standing together. Title: “Former Foes Bury Hatchet.” Signed by Gerhard Thyben in full adding “Horrido” in his hand. Boldly signed by C.E. “Bud” Andersonn across his chest adding “Best wishes” in his hand. On the verso is a typed note signed once again by Thyben adding a three line note in his hand. Most unusual to find a signed portrait of a German and American Ace together in friendship, Fine condition............$85.00
