Founder and First President of Hadassah
SZOLD, Henrietta (1860-2/13/1945). Organized the American Zionist Medical Unit. This led to the founding by her of Hadassah, the woman’s Zionist Organization.
At the age of 75 she took arms against the Hitler persecutions. Important typed letter signed, one page, March 25, 1943, to a woman in Tel Aviv. She writes in part: “...A few days ago Dr. Victoria Kruskal brought me the package of twelve dresses which you made for our Teheran children. The dresses are very attractive and we are sure that they will be welcome gift to the little girls to whom we shall send them within the next few days. I am deeply grateful to you for your help in clothing our children - a gigantic task, as you can well imagine!” Signed in ink in full in English…in very good condition..............$495.00
