SULZBERGER, Arthur Hays (1891-1968). Jewish leader, American newspaper man. Publisher of The New York Times from 1935-1961. He championed the cause of free and responsible journalism. He was a practicing Jew however he was accused of deliberately burying accounts of Nazi atrocities against Jews in the back pages of the Times. Typed letter signed on his name imprinted stationery of The New York Times. One page, June 20, 1953 to Mrs. Robert Brinsmade of Venezuela.
