Organized the First Woman’s Rights Convention
STANTON, Elizabeth Cady (1815-1902) American social reformer. Organized the firsts woman’s rights convention held in Senaca Falls, N.Y. 918480. This effectively launched the woman’s rights movement. Her “radical” views were opposed by men and woman alike. Stanton aligned with Susan B. Anthony in 1851 and worked with her for the next 40 years. Stanton was elected the first President of the new National Woman Suffrage Association (1890-1892). Stanton wrote the first three volumes of the six volume History of Woman Suffrage.
