SPALDING, Albert (1888-1953)  Officer in the aviation corps signal service in WWI. American concert violinist who was reared in Florence, Italy. His uncle was A.G. Spalding of the sports equipment company fame. Spalding spoke three languages and served his country in two wars. He was the composer of two violin concertos and a sonata for violin and piano.  Page most likely removed from an album which he has written a couple of bars of music and has inscribed the piece to his barber: “For Robert Heftler, it’s good to be at the mercy of a Benevolent Barber! Albert Spalding- Sept.8/48.”  Affixed to the same page is a portion of his obituary. V/G.................$135.00
