Hitler’s Favorite Commando
SKORZENY, Otto (1908-1975). World War II commando. Noted for rescuing Mussolini from Gran Sasso, a remote mountain top in Italy. During the “Battle of the Bulge” Skorzeny and his men were dressed like American soldiers and painted their tanks with American insignia’s. Called “Operation Grief” Skorzeny was called “The Most Dangerous Man in Europe.” After the war, he headed an organization named “Die Spinne” (the Spider) which helped hundreds of former SS officers flee Germany. Skorzeny was tried at Nuremberg. Choice signature (said to have been obtained during the Nuremberg trails) matted with a portrait of Skorzeny taken on the day he received the Knight’s Cross.
