SHARAF, Abdul Hamid (1939-1980). Prime Minister of Jordan from December 1979 through his death due to a heart attack. He only held that office for seven months. Ambassador to the United States (1967-1972), Canada (1969-1972) and to the United Nations (1972-1976). He was chief negotiator between Hussein’s government and the PLO of Arafat. He served as Chief of the Royal Cabinet and in 1976 the King of Jordan named him Prime Minister, Foreign Minister, and Minister of April 11, 1972, on the stationery of the Permanent Mission of Jordan to the United Nations. A very early letter as the Ambassador to the U.N. Defense. Typed letter signed, regarding his experience in the Boy Scouts. Sharaf writes in part: “...inquiring about my past Boy Scout activities. I am very pleased that you ask me about this particular group, for I enjoyed immensely my scouting experience in Jordan and have a great many happy memories. Scouting not only introduced my fellow scouts and myself to many new interests, but it was also valuable in establishing personal values. I think it is a very necessary experience for any young man...” Signed as Ambassador, he died just 8 years later at the very early age of forty-one..................$95.00
