SHARAF, Abdul Hamid (1939-1980). Prime Minister of Jordan from December 1979 through his death due to a heart attack. He only held that office for seven months. Ambassador to the United States (1967-1972), Canada (1969-1972) and to the United Nations (1972-1976). He was chief negotiator between Hussein’s government and the PLO of Arafat. He served as Chief of the Royal Cabinet and in 1976 the King of Jordan named him Prime Minister, Foreign Minister, and Minister of April 11, 1972, on the stationery of the Permanent Mission of Jordan to the United Nations. A very early letter as the Ambassador of Jordan to the U.N. He types in part: “..my pleasure to have my previous letter to you published in your local scout newsletter.
