Created the Balloons  for Thanksgiving Macy’s Day Parade
SARG, Tony  (1880-1942). German/American puppeteer, illustrator.  Father of Modern Puppetry. Known as “America’s Puppet Master.”  In 1921 Sarg animated the film “The First Circus.”  In 1928 he designed and built helium-filled balloons up to 125 feet long which resembled animals for New York City’s Macy’s Department Store.  These balloons participated in the Thanksgiving Macy’s Day Parade in 1935.  Wonderful typed letter signed on his very ornate letterhead “Tony Sargs’ Marionettes.”  New York, January 17, 1929.  Sarg writes: “Dear Miss Deane: So sorry that I missed out on the trip to Hampton but you see I do not usually travel with my company of marionettes. I would be more than delighted to autograph your book so if you will send it to me, I shall make a nice little sketch in it for you!  If you come to town be sure to drop in at my studio at the above address. Sincerely yours, Tony Sarg.”  In very good condition. Not common in signed letters and this is a wonderful example................................SOLD
