ROOSEVELT, Eleanor (1884-1962). Longest serving First Lady of the United States (1933-45). One of the most admired woman of the 20th century. Typed letter signed, as First Lady, on the imprinted letterhead of The White House. August 24, 1942 to “Dear Nancy.” Roosevelt writes: “I am so sorry the enclosed letter from Mr. Donovan is disappointing.
