Wonderful Content Letter From John D. Rockefeller
ROCKEFELLER, John D. (1839-1937). American businessman, founder of Standard oil. Oil industry pioneer capitalist. He virtually monopolized the oil industry until he was forced by the Supreme Court to dissolve the company and break it up into regional producers and refiners. Typed letter signed, one full page, on his name imprinted stationery. Kijkuit, Pocantico Hills, New York. October 13, 1920. To Mr. H.C. Ditmar. Rockefeller writes in part: “...we have sent the money to Dr. Bustard...I give you this in confidence, and it only represents a personal expression, without any intimate knowledge of the consensus of opinion of the church on the subject. From the present outlook it would seem that I cannot hope to attend the services much, if any, in the future...There are many wise men in the denomination, in the ministry as well as the laity, who know Dr, Bustard and appreciate him for all the good he has done, who would not expect a man of his independence and strength to have a bed of roses in a relationship such as proposed. However, I assume that somebody would be friendly enough to him to talk plainly to him on this subject, if he does not know himself - but he ought to know himself.” In fine condition with an unusually large, bold signature of Rockefeller........................$1,250.00
