Father of the Nuclear Navy
RICKOVER, Hyman G. (1900-1986). U.S. Navy Admiral, American hero who built the first commercial nuclear power plant. By 2007, the Navy produced 200 nuclear powered submarines and 23 nuclear powered aircraft carriers and cruisers. Rickover is known as “The Father of the Nuclear Navy.” The book: “Eminent Americans, Namesakes of the Polaris Submarine Fleet.” Superintendent of Documents, U.S. Government Printing Office, 1972, First edition. Wrappers, three hundred sixteen pages, illustrated. Inscribed and signed on the half title page: “To Louise Howe, with my best wishes, H.G.
