One Of Superman’s Last Signatures
Signed Two Weeks Before His Mysterious Death

REEVES, George  (1914-1959).  American actor, best remembered for his role as “Superman” (1952-1957).  His film debut was in the opening scenes of Gone With The Wind.  Reeves was fatally shot under mysterious circumstances at the age of forty-five.  Whether his death was a suicide or homicide it remains one of Hollywood’s unsolved mysteries.  His death is the subject of a 2006 film Hollywoodland.  Fountain pen inscription and signature on a portion of an album page.  “To Helen, George Reeves”. Written in purple ink, inscription could be matted out.  Ample margins for framing.  Ink notation at the bottom left edge indicates this signature was signed on June 2, 1959 just two weeks before his death on June 16, 1959.  Genuine signatures of George Reeves are scarce. Together with an 8”x10” photograph from Superman  of Noel Neil as “Lois Lane” and Jack Larson as “Jimmy Olsen”, signed by both.  A fantastic combination for framing
