Last Person to Serve as Supreme Court Justice Without Possessing a Law Degree

REED, Stanley (1884-1980)  American Jurist. Nominated by president Franklin D. Roosevelt to be an Associate Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court.  He held this position from 1938 until 1957. Typed letter signed, one page on the letterhead of the Supreme Court of the United States,  January 30, 1957 to Harold W. Hensel.  Reed sends thanks for a 1884 (year of his birth) calendar just three weeks before his retirement.  In addition he sends a signature of the Chief Justice. In fine condition............ $135.00
