MAJESTY QUEEN ALIA AL HUSSEIN (1948-1977). Alia is the third spouse of King Hussein. Married King Hussein on December 24, 1972. Queen of Jordan (1972-1977). She was very involved with Arabian horses and was Director of the Royal Stables of Jordan. She was also a black belt in Tae Kwondo. In 1974 she called for women to be granted the right to vote. Later that year the law granted that right. The International Airport at Amman is named after her. She died in a helicopter crash in February 1977. Royal Christmas card (Circa 1976). Cover depicts the King's Crown. On the inside left panel is a printed greeting "My parents and I send you our best wishes, regards and the Season's Greetings". Signed "Alia Al Hussein" and "Hussein". On the right panel is a color photograph of H.R.H. Princess Haya Hussein of Jordan. Princess Haya Hussein was born on May 3, 1974 and her picture on this card appears that she could be about 2 and a half years old. If accurate Queen Alia Al Hussein died just two months after signing this card. One small corner bump bottom left corner otherwise in fine condition. Rare ...............................$650.00   |
