Theatre Guild did the play and not well.......
by reason of its very sexy psychological research
RAND, Sally (1904-1979). Noted fan dancer. Typed letter signed, one very full page, Feb.6, 1946 to William Targ. Excellent content regarding a new play. She says in part: “...All I can say is I am sorry...but I swear there just wasn’t anything I could do about it...I have so much invested in it I dare not sluff it off. The first show really has to be something unusual and wonderful. The wardrobe and costumes for it and for the succeeding shows offer a tremendous problem since I did not wish to buy new things because of the expense...I am sending you...a script which is a translation...of this Emil Zola story. Theatre Guild did the play and not well...by reason of its very sexy psychological research, if not for its literary merit...I feel sure it could become a very popular book...".............. $135.00
