RADHAKRISHNAN, S. (1888-1975). Indian philosopher and statesman who became the first vice-president of India ((1952-1962). Second President of India (1962-1967). He was influential in shaping the understanding of Hinduism in both India and the west. Winner of many awards including knighthood in 1931.
