Very Scarce T.L.S. - A.L.S. of Supreme Court Justice Lewis Powell
POWELL JR., Lewis F. (1907-1998). American Jurist. Appointed by President Nixon to the Supreme Court. He served from 1971 to 1987. He voted in favor of the cases United States v. Nixon and Roe V. Wade. Typed letter signed, one page on the imprinted letterhead of the Supreme Court of the United States, Chambers of Justice Lewis F. Powell, Jr. Dated February 21, 1981. Typed letter signed “Lewis” writing to Mrs. Peggy LeBaron, wife of Robert LeBaron. He writes in part: “Thank you for lending us the copy of Secretary Regan’s recent address. I return it herewith....We look forward to seeing you and Bob soon.” Below Powell writes a very rare A.L.S. as Supreme Court Justice. “Peggy- I dictated this letter yesterday and did not know then we would be together last night-and that it would be a birthday party at that! Your response to Denna was charming. Lewis.” Very fine condition. Handwritten letters by Justice Powell as Supreme Court Justice are quite scarce............$150.00
