POWELL, Eleanor (1912-1982) American actress and dancer. MGM’S top dancing star during the Golden Age of Hollywood. In 1965, she was named the World’s Greatest Tap Dancer. She is considered the only female dancer to out dance Fred Astaire. Striking 8”x10” B&W photograph by MGM photographer Clarence S. Bull. Powell is wearing a full length gay floral printed evening gown and having a very pretty smile. Stated on verso she will soon be seen in The Ziegfield Girl circa 1940-41.
