PIPER. William T. (1881-1970). American airplane manufacturer. Founder of Piper Aircraft.  During WWII, he delivered over 5,600 Piper Cubs to the U.S. Government. The Piper Cubs easily eluded enemy aircraft. The aircraft is a two-seater plane that became popular as a family aircraft.  First Day cover affixed with the U.S. 6 cent Air Mail stamp cancelled Dayton, Ohio, May 29,1953. Nice cachet Golden Anniversary of Aviation.  Boldly signed with an uncommon four-word sentiment: “With my best wishes W.T. Piper.” Many aviation autograph collections are minus a genuine signature of Piper. Beware of Piper forgeries. Fine condition.......................$465.00
