UT, Nick (1958- ) Vietnamese American photographer for Associated Press. Kim Phuc is the young girl depicted in the Pulitzer Prize winning photograph taken on June 8, 1972 during the Viet Nam War. She was a nine year old running naked down a road after being severely burned by a South Vietnamese Napalm attack. The bombing killed two of her cousins, The photo also won the World Press Photo of the Year for 1972. She was taken to a Saigon hospital and determined that she was so severely burned she would not survive. She stayed hospitalized for 14 months having 17 surgical procedures. The photo has become one of the most memorable images of the 20th century. Nick Ut won the 1973 Pulitzer Prize for the photo illustrated above. He is also widely known for his photo of Paris Hilton in the back seat of a Los Angeles Sheriff’s cruiser taken on June 6, 2007. Offered here are 3 items. A black & white portrait of the award winning photograph, measures 6”x10”. The second item is a pink card with the printed logo of the peace sign.
