Discovered the Lost Rare Chinese Manuscripts
PELLOIT, Paul (1878-1945) French orientalist best known for his explorations of Central Asia and his discovery of many important Chinese texts among the Dunhuang manuscripts inside the Mogao Caves (1908). He was awarded the Legion of Honneur during the Boxer Rebellion. He captured the enemy flag during the fighting. Pelloit spoke 13 languages. He also found documents in the lost language of Kuhean. The Guimet Museum in Paris has a Gallery named after him. Autograph letter signed, one full page, in French, May 23, 1909. Not translated but not long after his discovery of the Dunhuang manuscripts in the Mogao Caves. Hand addressed to Mademoiselle Marcella Adam in Paris.
