At Birth He Was Proclaimed A Living Saint

PALDEN THONDUP NAMGVAL and His Queen.  12th and last King of Sikkim (1963-1975).   His Coronation was held on April 4, 1965.  His country was the size of Delaware. He came to worldwide attention during the early 60’s when as Prince of Sikkim, the former protectorate of India had become an Indian State. He became engaged to an American debutante.  Her name was Hope Goode. The Indian Government disapproved of the marriage of a Prince who was a Buddhist leader to a foreigner. Later the King and Queen were placed under house arrest. They escaped and fled.  Wonderful ink signatures of both the King and Queen on separate 4”x6” cards
