OVINGTON, Earl (1879-1936). Exhibition flyer, First U.S. Air Mail pilot. Carried 75 pounds of letters and postcards on September 23, 1911 from Garden City, N.Y. to Mineola, N.Y. 3 miles away. Former assistant to Thomas Edison. Died at the early age of 56. Interesting Air Mail cover, commemorating Ovington’s First Air Mail Flight from Spokane, Washington.
