OUMANSKY, Constantine (1902-1945) Jewish Soviet diplomat. He joined the Russian Communist Party in 1919. Spoke 6 languages and was involved in secret police activities. In 1939, He was appointed by Joseph Stalin as Ambassador of the Soviet Union to the United States. He held that position from 1939 to 1945. He clashed with President Roosevelt who called him “a dirty little liar.” Later as Ambassador to Mexico, on the 25th of June 1945 on board a Mexican Air Force plane, it crashed on takeoff in Mexico City killing him and his wife. Cause of death still unknown! A fabulous signature dated June 23rd 1939 on an autograph collector’s note page. Oumansky’s signature is quite scarce.
