Scarce Signature of Joe Dan Osceola Chief Joe Dan Osceola.  (1936- )  Indian Chief member of the Panther Clan of the Mikasuki Indian Tribe. He is the great-great-great- grandson of Chief Osceola the unconquered Chief.   The Mikasuki and Creeks of Florida are the only Indian groups that never signed a peace treaty with the federal Government.  The Mikasuki’s battled the U.S. Army in three war. Many Indians were forced to move to Oklahoma while a few hundred fled deep into the Everglades. Joe Dan Osceola was the first Seminole to enroll in a public high school. He was the first Seminole to graduate. He was elected as the tribe’s president at the early age of thirty..
