O'KEEFFE, Georgia (1887-1986). American muralist and landscape painter. One of the leading artists of the 20th century. Remembered for her paintings of the Southwest and of landscapes and steer skulls. Wife of photographer Alfred Stieglitz. Very rare double endorsed check. Check from the noted autograph company Walter R. Benjamin Autographs. Dated March 15, 1948 and made payable to "Georgia O'Keefe" (sic) for $250.00. Check accomplished by the hand of noted autograph dealer Mary Benjamin who spells Georgia O'Keeffe's name wrong. Georgia O'Keeffe endorses the check twice, once the way Mary Benjamin has spelled her name and the other signature spelling her name correctly. In excellent condition. A modern day oddity and rarity connecting who was considered at the time the top dealer in the autograph hobby and Georgia O'Keeffe...........................................SOLD
