NORDOFF, Charles (1887-1947). Served as a pilot in WW1 French Air Force and then in the U.S. Army Air Corps. Wrote with James Norman Hall “Lafayette Flying Corps (1920) and “Mutiny On The Bounty” (1932). Typed letter signed, one page, Hope Ranch, Santa Barbara, Ca, December 8, 1941. Mentions that Hall is at present in the South Seas also mentions his book “Botany Bay” and “Pitcairn Island”. Nordoff continues: “ ...It is a pleasure to learn that you enjoyed “Botany Bay”. Many thanks, also, for your enclosure from Pitcairn Island, which is most interesting. Hall visited the place a good many years ago, but was prevented from sailing at the last moment & thereby missed a most unpleasant ship-wreck and open boat voyage.” Bold signature with three corrections in his hand........SOLD
