- NORDAU, Dr. Max S. (1849-1923). Co-founder with Herzl The Zionist World Wide Organization.
Hungarian born, doctor who settledin Paris in 1880 where he became
a best selling author. He helped draft the Bask Program at the
First Zionist Congress in 1897. He spent his life for the establishment
of an independent Jewish State. He supported Herzl in approving
acceptance of East Africa as a Jewish settlement. Nordau served
as Vice President and then President of several Zionist Congresses.
At the first Zionist Congress, Nordau gave the opening speech
on the condition of the Jewish people. He died in Paris and was
re-interred in Tel Aviv in 1926.
