Rare Letter From Leonard Nimoy
NIMOY, Leonard ((1931-2015). Actor, film director, photographer, author, singer and songwriter. He is beloved for generations of fans for his portrayal of “Spock” on the TV series “Star Trek” and its film spin-offs. At the time of his death he was worth 45 million dollars. Very scarce typed letter signed, two separate pages pages on Paramount Television letterhead. Dated May 12, 1969 to the noted TV personality Hy Gardner. Nimoy writes in part: ...I have been delaying this letter in the hope that I could give you some definitive newsworthy items about my activities....Since the news of “Star Trek’s” cancellation, I am very happy to say that I have had much activity in the way of offers and inquiries. NBC has expressed very strong interest in establishing a contract of exclusivity with that network. Universal Studios has offered an all purpose contract to include work in their “World premieres”, movies for television, various other shows and possibly a series. I have also been offered a position as host on a series of talk shows on Metromedia. At present we are in negotiation for a tour in a production of “A Thousand Clowns”, ...I have also been receiving various motion picture scripts, and in fact have been offered four different roles, on as many motion pictures for television, to be made by Paramount and 20th Century Fox....I am sure that in the near future we will find some meaningful material which I would enjoy playing and I will be back on the sound stages...Sincerely, Leonard Nimoy”. Very light scattered foxing along the edges from being in humid Miami............................$185.00
