Photograph, B&W, 8”x10” of Fleet Admiral Chester W. Nimitz on the deck of the U.S.S. Missouri is signing the instrument of surrender. On the surrender documents on the photograph Nimitz has signed in blue ink: “C.W. Nimitz, U.S. Representative.” Most unique is to the right of his signature he has also written: “The Japanese Surrender-U.S.S. Missouri, Tokyo Bay 2 Sept. 1945.” In addition on the lower white margin Nimitz has inscribed: “To The Enlisted Men’s Club-Best Wishes, C.W. Nimitz, Fleet Admiral, U.S.N.” The photograph is in very good condition and very scarce with the extra writing. All writing is nice and bold, not the usual fading found on these type photographs........$3,750.00
