For Speed, Altitude and Distance NICHOLS, Ruth (1901-1960). Pioneer American Aviator. Co-Pilot on the record breaking flight from New York to Miami (1928). She broke several woman’s records in 1931. She was critically injured during a barnstorming tour in 1935 when she attempted an emergency landing in Troy, New York. Her plane missed the runway and burst into flames. Vintage photo, 3.25”x5”, circa 1930’s, of Nichols standing near the side of her plane looking up at co-pilot James Ray. Signed by both. In excellent condition.
