Scarce - Signed by the Pilot and The Memphis Belle

MORGAN, Robert (1918-2004). Pilot of the USAAF B-17 Flying Fortress “Memphis Belle.”
POLK, Ms. Margaret  (1922-1990). Descendant of President James K. Polk. The bomber was named after Margaret who was called “Memphis Belle.”  She was the sweetheart of Robert Morgan. The bomber was one of the first heavy bombers to complete 25 combat missions. In 1944 a documentary film was made and an additional film produced in Hollywood in 1990.  Polk’s pinup in Esquire Magazine’s April 1941 issue was used for the nose art on the Memphis Belle.  After the war, the bomber was purchased by the City of Memphis for $350.00.  Color poster on board “The Memphis Belle Home At Last” commemorating the dedication of the Memphis Belle Pavilion, May 17, 1987. Hand signed along the bottom “Robert Morgan” and to his left hand signed “Margaret Polk, Memphis Belle”  In good condition, with light scuffing in some areas, bottom right corner bumped but overall light wear, otherwise, quite colorful with fine signatures.  A wonderful item for display
...............$450.00
