MORGAN, John T. (1824-1907). Confederate General who signed Alabama’s secession. Alabama attorney who started in the war as a Private but quickly rose to Lieutenant Colonel of the 5th Alabama Infantry. He resigned to recruit his own regiment, the 51st Alabama Partisan Rangers and was promoted to Brigadier of his original regiment in November 1863. He saw service at First Manassas, Murfreesboro and Chickamauga. He was elected to the Senate in 1876 and remained there until his death. He is known as an advocate for a canal through Central America. Large signature adding: “Alabama” in his hand.......SOLD
