MITCHELL, William (Billy). (1879-1936). American General. During WWI he rose to Brig. General. Commanded the American Expeditionary Air Force. His public criticism of military leaders for neglect of air power led to his court martial and demotion to Colonel. Resigned in 1926 but before the second World War, his main ideas were accepted. Author. Rare autograph letter signed, one page on his name imprinted letterhead. Boxwood, 22/12/26 just days before Christmas during the year of his resignation. To a Mr. Pond. In this letter he sends Holiday wishes and also wishes for a prosperous New Year and hope to see him before long.
