Maggie Mitchell (1836-1918) was a very popular American actress. Mitchell excelled in comedy roles. She was a confederate sympathizer. She performed at the inauguration of President Jefferson Davis. Her performance was her signature dance on the American Flag. She was also close friends of John Wilkes Booth, the assassin of President Lincoln. Her visiting card printed on one side: “Mrs. Charles Abbott/Maggie Mitchell.” On the verso she has signed: “Yours truly Maggie Mitchell, Elberon (New Jersey) Aug.13, 1891.” In fine condition. This is the first visiting card of Maggie Mitchell we have seen. In F.C.
