MITCHELL, Margaret (1900-1949). American novelist, author of the best selling Civil War novel “Gone With The Wind”. Typed letter signed as “Margaret Mitchell Marsh”, Atlanta, Georgia, Dec 17, 1940. One page on her name imprinted stationery, to My Dear Mr. Palmer. Mitchell writes: “Thank you so much for your interesting letter and the copies of “The Jacobite.” My correspondence with Mr. Bagnall, in New Zealand and yours with him and with me draw this very large world into a small place, don’t they? No, I am not related to the Honorable William Mitchell who died near Kendallville, Indiana. As far back as our family records run, the Mitchells have always lived in the South. They have been in Georgia since shortly after the Revolutionary War.” In fine condition......$2,500.00
