MILLER, Cincinnatus (1837-1913). Penname Joaquin Miller. American frontiersman and poet. Called “Poet of the Sierras.” He lived with the Indians and horse thieves in California and Oregon. He was a Pony Express messenger and later turned Indian fighter before turning to poetry. He was also called “The Byron of Oregon.” Original holograph manuscript draft of Miller’s “In A Gondola.” Two full pages, four stanzas, eight lines each. Hand signed “Joaquin Miller” and dated “Venice 1874.” In fine condition. Most unusual.................$450.00
