Jane Roe of Roe vs. Wade
McCorvey, Norma (1947-2017). Anti-Abortion activist, lesbian, drug addict and alcoholic. Also known by the pseudonym “Jane Roe.” Her case was perhaps the most controversial U.S. Supreme Court decision. McCorvey fought for and won the right to secure an abortion. She became the poster child for the pro-choice movement. McCorvey stated then that her involvement in Roe was “the biggest mistake of her life.” Later she stated that her anti-abortion activism had been “all an act” which she did because she was paid. Norma robbed a gas station then later was able to rent a hotel room. A maid found her kissing her partner in bed. She was arrested, taken to court where she was declared a ward of the state. The judge sent her to a Catholic boarding school.
